Medicaid Prior Authorization (PA) Hours

A client’s Medicaid prior authorization (PA) hours are determined based on “Medical Necessity” as per Medicaid’s definition.

Health care services are considered a “Medical Necessity” when they are clinically necessary to meet a client’s basic health needs, as well as being in proportion to their diagnosis and rendered in a manner that is cost-effective. Documentation must exist to support that it is medically necessary for the patient to receive Medicaid prior authorization services.
